Ashton vents spleen at his team
Brian Ashton struggled to keep himself in check after England's 15-9 defeat to Scotland on Saturday, saying he would be better off not talking about the game with his emotions.
In a dreadful match, England looked short of ideas and leadership once again, and Ashton's patience is wearing thin.
"I have to be careful talking after the game, sometimes you talk with emotions rather than with your head," he said to the BBC
"Patience is the biggest virtue a coach can have, but that starts to wear thin after a while.
"We have to think really seriously about what happened today and what's going to happen in the future."
England seemed to be recovering from the disappointing displays against Wales and Italy, with the win in Paris a fortnight ago said to be the start of a brighter period.
"It's very frustrating - we are bitterly disappointed, we said all week we had to be at our best to win the game," said Ashton.
"They just played the game of rugby better than we did in terms of their execution of the core skills.
"Their kicking game and their discipline was better and you're highly unlikely to win game of international rugby if you don't compete in those areas."
"It wasn't going to be pretty, but they did the basics better than us and we are bitterly disappointed.
"We have to analyse look at what went well and not so well. We have to get ourselves ready for Ireland coming to Twickenham next week."
