Sexton and DOC looking good
Jonny Sexton: Fit again
Jonny Sexton and Donncha O'Callaghan are both set to be it to play in the Six Nations match against France this coming weekend.
Less good news for the Irish involves Andrew Trimble (hamstring) and Stephen Ferris (knee), who remain doubtful for what is likely to be the pivotal clash in this year's Six Nations.
Paul O'Connell is said to be progressing well despite a mild concussion and should be fine to take the pitch.
With Trimble doubtful, the doors are open to either Shane Horgan or Johne Murphy, a straight decision between experience and youth, while Kevin McLaughlin ought to be retained over Ferris on the basis of his display against Italy.
"Stephen Ferris been able to put weight on his leg but he hasn't run strongly on it yet," explained Ireland manager Paul McNaughton to the Irish Times.
"He did a little bit when he came down here last week, on Monday and Tuesday, but he's been off his feet for the rest of the week and he's down here. We'll know in the next couple of days."
The choice between Sexton and Ronan O'Gara at fly-half ought to be an interesting one as well, although with O'Gara struggling with a knee knock the decision could be made easier.
"Ronan had a bang on his knee, Tomás (O'Leary) had a dead leg and Paul had a bang on his eye," McNaughton added.
"They'll all take part in training today at some stage and we expect them to be fit.
"Andrew Trimble is a bit of a worry because he came off with a strained hamstring, and obviously Donncha and Stephen Ferris are more of a concern. But at this stage we're not ruling anyone out for selection."
